Receipt for Medical Services, Medications Provided by Dr. J. Munson, c. 1843-1844

Treatments employed by Dr. Munson included rhubarb, ipecac, and quinine. Rhubarb was used a purgative; ipeacac (ipecacuanha root) was used as an emetic, as well as an expectorant and diaphoretic in small doses; and quinine was a popular treatment for malaria.
