First Donation (1947)

George Peek, 10-year-old from Pasadena, gave the first donation of the 1947 campaign. Shown here giving his piggy bank to Emmeline Renis. The donation was 27 cents. He was going to buy a football, but he read about tuberculosis and thought his money could be better spent. The League was just $99,999.73 away from its goal for the year!
