Author Biography
John Bickel, LCSW, is a clinical social worker in Houston. Mr. Bickel has worked for 15 years with children and families effected by child abuse and domestic violence. His practice experience includes home-based counseling with children and families involved in the child welfare system in an effort to prevent court interventions when possible. He has worked more recently at Texas Children’s Hospital as an Emergency Department Social Worker specializing in crisis intervention, bereavement and assessment of child abuse and neglect. He currently acts as Community Outreach Coordinator for Child Abuse Pediatrics at the hospital in an effort to educate professions and spread the message of prevention through the conceptualization, design and presentation of pertinent media in the hospital and community. Mr. Bickel graduated from Indiana University School of Social Work in 1998.
