Author Biography
Dr. Bernardo Pohl, Co-Pi, is an Assistant Professor of Education at the University of Houston-Downtown. He currently teaches critical issues in social studies and social studies methods. Previously, he was a special education and social studies teacher at Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District in Northwest Houston for 10 years. He earned his Doctorate in Education from the University of Houston-Main.
Viola M. García is an emeritus professor in the Department of Urban Education at the University of Houston-Downtown, where she served as chair of the department and as assistant chair for undergraduate programs. Dr. Garcia has 30 years of experience as a professional educator and has served as a school board trustee in the Aldine Independent School District since 1992.
Dr. Traqina Q. Emeka is an Associate Professor of Criminal Justice at Lone Star College – North Harris in Houston, TX. Her research interests include juvenile delinquency, victimology, recidivism, and community corrections. She has co-authored a criminal justice victimology textbook and she has published in the areas of child abuse, juvenile recidivism, and community corrections.
