Dr. Marcus received numerous recognitions throughout her career. Just some examples: in 1994 she was elected to a Fellowship in the American Academy of Nursing; in 1998 she was awarded the John P. McGovern Award for Excellence in Medical Education presented by the Association for Multidisciplinary Education and Research in Substance use and Addiction (AMERSA); and in 2006 she was elected to the University of Texas Academy of Health Science Education. Abstract

The Marianne Marcus, EdD, RN papers contain newsletters, publications, research project designs, and other materials related to her work at the University of Texas School of Nursing. Mostly dating from 1998-2008, her papers reflect Dr. Marcus’ interest in substance abuse research and helping prepare nurses to address addiction issues. See more at MS 174.

Dr. Marianne Marcus signed deed of gift on May 14, 2013. One box was delivered to the archives. The gift was formally acknowledged by Dr. L. M. Buja, executive director of the library, and Philip Montgomery, archivist. Accruals are expected.
