Author Biographical Info

Lee D. Cady, MD (1896-1987) graduated Washington School of Medicine in 1922. He served in both World War I and World War II. During World War II he served as the commanding officer of the 21st General Hospital in Northern Africa and Europe. Upon returning home after World War II, he assumed the role of director of the V.A. Hospitals in Dallas then Houston before his retirement from the Houston V.A. Hospital in 1963. He is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.

Abstract

The collection deals primarily with Dr. Cady's tenure in the Veterans Administration from 1946-1963. Most of the materials concern his role as Director of the Veterans Hospital in Houston, Texas. Some of the earlier materials relate to his work with the VA in Dallas. See more at MS 026.

Processing information: Following the donation of materials in 1981, photographs were removed from the collection and placed in IC 098 TMC Library Historical Photograph Collection. Item numbers were assigned and each cataloged. In 2018, photographs donated by Lee D. Cady were grouped into a new collection, MS 217 Lee D. Cady V.A. Photograph Collection.
