Author Biographical Info

Dr. Stembridge was a leader in the field of pathology. He was the recipient of many awards and honors and over the years has been a consultant to many agencies. UT Southwestern friends and colleagues have honored him by establishing the Stembridge Scholarship Award, presented annually to an outstanding senior medical student in pathology at Southwestern Medical School. Dr. Stembridge died on December 1, 2000 at the age of 76.

The Stembridge family donated the Vernie A. Stembridge, MD, papers and realia to the Houston Academy of Medicine-Texas Medical Center Library in February 2011. Additional materials donated on June 10, 2019 by Ann Connell, daughter, equaling 6 boxes (6 cubic feet) and one framed object.
